DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist let loose yesterday that they would be touring the US on a co-headlining bill and that they were bringing the show to The Front Range.
This news was enough for me to take note but once I dug a little deeper I got a case o' the vapors, lads and lasses. It turns out that both of these superstar DJ's had gained access to the vaults of hip hop's patient zero, Afrika Bambaataa.
These shows will feature both Cut Chemist and Shadow twisting, scratching, and beat matching with a library of vinyl that is unparalleled in the world of music. On every stage throughout the tour, both vinyl virtuosi will incorporate six turntables, two mixers, and a vintage drum machine to recreate the feel of hip hop shows of the early 80s with a spin that only they can create.
There are two Colorado stops on the itinerary 9/26 at the Ogden in Denver and 9/27 at Belly Up in Aspen. Tickets for the Denver show hit the streets this Friday.
