Thousands of strands of holiday lights will illuminate historic Downtown Fort Collins at the annual Downtown Holiday Lighting Ceremony. The ceremony will be held at Oak Street Plaza located at Oak St. and College Ave. The evening begins at 6 pm with live music, cookies, hot cocoa, and cider. At 6:30pm, we will turn on all the lights in downtown. Residents and visitors to the Choice City can enjoy the holiday lights from anywhere along College Avenue beginning at Laporte Avenue and continuing to Magnolia Street.
Trees will be lit along Walnut Ave, Linden St., Pine St., Old Town Square, Oak Street Plaza, and Mountain Ave. The lighting project is a joint endeavor between the Downtown Fort Collins Business Association, The Downtown Development Authority and the City of Fort Collins. The lights will be in place from November 1 to approximately February 14.
No, the lights aren't colored green. The lighting effort this year continues their commitment to being green. LED light strands were used exclusively in this year’s display, offering a 90% power savings over standard lights.
Downtown will also host the First Friday featuring Gallery Walk on the evening of November 1. This event showcases local galleries, artists and art shows. The Fort Collins Gallery Walk is located throughout Downtown Fort Collins including over 20 fine art galleries, attracting hundreds of people from around the Northern Colorado region.
